Rovos Rail

16 September / 02 December 2009:

Depart Rovos Rail's Private Station, Capital Park, Pretoria at 10h00.

 

Waterval Onder, meaning below the waterfall, aptly describes this villages situation at the base of the Elands River Waterfall which plunges 90 metres down the escarpment to the lowveld. Along with Waterval Boven, the town situated above the waterfall and equally aptly named, the towns were settled in 1895 due to the building of the Eastern Line Railway from Delagoa Bay to Pretoria.

Arrival at Waterval Onder at 18h30 and enjoy a leisurely dinner.

After breakfast enjoy a round of golf at the Hans Merensky Golf Estate at 10h00 

 

  

Playing golf on the Hans Merensky Golf Course very often turns your golf vacation into an

African wildlife safari with game from the adjacent Kruger National Park wandering onto the

golf course. The challenging 18 hole, Par 72 championship golf course, one of the Top 20 golf

courses in South Africa, extends over a vast area of indigenous fauna and flora, exotic watering

holes and velvet greens.

Non-golfers can enjoy a game drive in the famous Kruger National Park followed by lunch.

Train departs for Swaziland at 18h00.

09h00 tee off time at Royal Swazi Club near Manzini.

The Royal Swazi Golf Course is an 18 hole, par 72 championship golf course, internationally renowned for its scenic setting and natural beauty.

Non-golfers will visit the Ngwenya Glass Factory, lunch at Malandelas and followed by a game drive in the Mkhaya Game Reserve.

Afterwards the Rovos Rail will depart for its overnight journey to Hluhluwe.

Today is a day at leisure. Enjoy an early morning game drive in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve.

At about 10h30 the Rovos Rail will depart for Durban where you will enjoy a dinner in the city of

Durban.

This morning you have a 08h00 tee off at the Durban Beachwood Country Club, a challenging

course comprising of long fairways and also ranked as one of the best golf courses in South

Africa.

Non-golfers will enjoy a Durban City Tour followed by lunch at the Durban Beachwood Country

Club.

 

Overnight on Rovos Rail.

At 09h00, enjoy 18 holes of golf at the amazing Champagne Sports Resort in the Drakensberg

Mountains.

Non-golfers can enjoy a walk at the Champagne Sports Resort or go on a professional tour of the Battlefields near Ladysmith, shopping and rejoin the train.

Overnight on Rovos Rail.

Enjoy a day at leisure on the train as you travel north towards the magnificent resort of Sun City in the Pilanesberg.

At 09h00 tee off at the Gary Player Country Club, in Sun City.

Non-golfers will enjoy the morning exploring the vibrant and exciting Sun City, joining up with the golfers for lunch at the Country club.

Evening game drive in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve for some Big Five Game Viewing.

Overnight on Rovos Rail.

Depart Rustenberg at 07h00 this morning, arriving back in Pretoria at the Capital Park Station

at about 10h00.
